More About the Bands

The Ritchie Brothers Band really began back in 1978 when two brothers, Mike and Scott Ritchie, joined their musical talents and went on the road with other band members playing throughout the Southeast. During this time they went through several band name changes as well as band members. The band has opened for such performers as B.B. King, Ike and Tina Turner, Johnny Winter, and Still Water. In 1985, the band came back together under the direction of the two brothers in Augusta, Georgia. They began writing original songs - getting back to their roots. Joining them now are another set of brothers, Michael and Thomas, sons of Mike Ritchie and nephews of Scott Ritchie.
At heart, the members of these bands consider themselves as "live performers." But until they quit their day jobs for their music, you can find them ... Mike Ritchie (professor of business at the University of South Carolina Aiken), Michael Ritchie (junior architecture major at Clemson University), Thomas Ritchie (high school junior), Scott Ritchie (civil engineer), Daniel Zaye (junior engineering major at Clemson University), and Pat McNemara (all around cool dude).

"Usually you find that the members of any band gravitate towards each other because of a common interest," said Mike Ritchie. "We're fortunate that we didn't have to look far to find each other. We're all connected. There truly is a genetic link in terms of rhythms, directions."
